    Hi everyone,

I’m working on a webshop for my clients, but occurred a strange problem. I can’t add variations to a variable product. When I click on the buttons Generate variations or add manually nothing happens.

Obviously I though this was likely a plugin or theme conflict, but I’ve deactivated all plugins except WooCommerce and switched the Astra theme to a default theme but the problem still persisted.

Has anyone else got this problem? What to do?

    Best regards,
    Michelle

    Hello @birdiedesign,

I understand your frustration at this point. I attempted to replicate the issue several times by activating HPOS, switching PHP versions, and changing the site language. However, I was unable to reproduce the problem.

    Here’s a screencast in case I’m missing something: https://d.pr/v/UUSmkj

As for the console errors, they’re coming from Elementor.

I suggest you get in touch with your hosting provider and request them to disable any caching solution that might minify or interfere with the page’s JavaScript.

Could you also check if there are any fatal/plugin-related error logs?
Here’s a quick guide on how to do that:

    • Go to WooCommerce > Status > Logs.
    • In the upper right corner, you’ll find a drop-down menu.
    • Search for the keyword “fatal” the that menu.
    • This should display the relevant logs we’re looking for. If you find any, please select each log one by one and click view.

You can then copy & paste them here or you can use a text-sharing service like Gist or Pastebin.

    Hi @babylon1999

Thanks for your reply. I appreciate your trying to help me!

I’ll contact my client and ask them to contact their hosting about the caching. They have managed hosting and I’ve wondered if that might have something to do with it.

There are quite a few error logs, but all are from before the problem started. Here they all are:

Most of them seem Astra and Elementor related. A few times the memory exhausted error, but I don’t think it’s related to this problem. My client has to pay extra for an increase in memory so I have to be sure that this will 100% fix it, before I suggest that.

Also I can’t figure out why the staging site does not have this problem and the live website does. Staging is a copy of the live site right? So how on earth is it possible that the staging site doesn’t have the problem, but the live website does?

Looking forward to hearing from you.

    Best regards,
    Michelle

A few times the memory exhausted error, but I don’t think it’s related to this problem.

I checked the logs and as you’ve mentioned nothing seems related to WooCommerce admin/include files.

Your site currently utilizes 256MB of memory. Most hosting services offer around 512MB even for their basic configurations so I recommend checking with your hosting provider to confirm if this is the case, you may not need to pay any additional fees. :?)

It is important to note that WordPress memory and server memory are not the same thing. You can adjust the amount of server memory allocated to WordPress by editing the wp-config file.

    Here’s a step-by-step guide for context: https://ae.godaddy.com/help/increase-the-wordpress-memory-limit-40246

My client has to pay extra for an increase in memory so I have to be sure that this will 100% fix it, before I suggest that.

This part further suggests the problem is related to caching, for instance, the wp-staging plugin forcefully turns off caching on the staging site to ensure that it does not interfere with the cache from the original site. I’m not sure how you cloned the site, but I assume most staging solutions follow a similar path, it might be worth mentioning this to your hosting provider too.

Let us know how it goes!

    Hi @babylon1999

So I’ve heard back from my clients hosting and they are unable and probably unwilling to help. They claim it has nothing to do with their services and they can’t help us.

I’ve adjusted the wp-config file but of course this didn’t solve the problem. I have no idea how to solve this problem. Is there a possibility for you to check out the website on the backend if I can safely give you login details?

    Best regards,
    Michelle

I still have this problem and still need help. I came across an error log in the server files and I see some error with WooCommerce. Not sure if it has anything to do with my problem. You can view them here: https://pastebin.com/cF1k7fP3.

    Hi Michelle,

I’m sorry to hear that you are still experiencing this same issue.

The errors you have shared indicate PHP warnings related to the Elementor Pro plugin’s WooCommerce module. Specifically, the warnings state “Undefined array key 1” and point to line 381 of the module.php file.

This issue could potentially cause problems with the functionality of the WooCommerce module and affect the display or operation of your WooCommerce-related elements.

To clarify, is this issue still present when the Elementor Pro plugin is deactivated?

If so, then as a next step, can you try deleting WooCommerce, downloading a fresh copy here, and then installing it and see if this resolves the issue?

I’d like to add that deleting the WooCommerce plugin will not affect your WooCommerce data in any way, all orders, customer etc will still be there once WooCommerce has been reinstalled.

Please ensure that you have a good backup of your full site and database in place before doing any of the above, so that, should something go wrong, you are able to easily restore your site to a functioning state.

Let us know how this goes!

    Hi @beautyofcode

Thank you for your reply. I’ve tried your suggestion and unfortunately it doesn’t work. And yes, the issue persists when Elementor Pro is deactivated.

    Kind regards,
    Michelle

I have the exact same problem.

    Anyone found a solution?

    Same problem here.

    I don’t use Elementor

    Hi @birdiedesign

I understand that even after Elementor Pro is deactivated, the issue persists when running WooCommerce 7.7.0, correct?

Can you please try the following steps below and see if this resolves the issue?

    • Clear all transients under WooCommerce > Status > Tools
    • Have your host purge the site cache or disable any server-side caching plugin
    • Clear your browser’s cache or try another browser or in incognito mode

    Hi @eipouw @webiton

    Thanks for reaching out!

I understand you are experiencing the same issue and since every site is different and you’re not the person who originally started this topic then, per the forum guidelines, would you please start your own topic?

Additionally, please include your System Status Report that you can find via WooCommerce > Status. Select Get system report and then Copy for support.

If you could also provide the fatal error logs (if any) under WooCommerce > Status > Logs.

Once you’ve created a new forum topic, you can include the contents of your SSR and logs within your message on that forum topic.

We’ll be more than happy to help there ??
