WordPress 2.01 has been chugging along fine on 3 blogs on my webserver for the past half a year. My sites are all hosted on Yahoo webhosting (I configured WordPress myself prior to Yahoo introducing WordPress as one of its blogging tools).

However, this morning, I started getting error messages on all of my blogs:

WordPress database error: [Can’t create/write to file ‘/var/tmp/#sql_5d6a_0.MYI’ (Errcode: 2)]

The same message appears when I try to Manage Posts under the admin module as well. Is there something that I should change under yahoo webhosting?

    Please advise.

    The 3 pages affected are:

    https://www.elcreations.org/engloy/photoblog
    https://www.elcreations.org/lipsengtan/photoblog
    https://elcreations.org/drmrcog

Each of the above has its own installation of WordPress and are running on separate SQL databases.

Would appreciate your advice here. Thanks!

  • So we can’t get support from YAHOO on this in the end?
Are we going to have to go to Movable Type now? Or even to Blogger to keep a YAHOO account?

I have to keep my account… I have too much going on with it. I’m getting pretty upset about all this.

i got a response from wh-php@ asking for info to access my account and mysql areas. i responded to wh-php@ and informed them that will not help and they just need to fix the issue on their end…

i installed moveable type and am testing it out in a different area of my site, i do not like it as much as i do wordpress… but if this goes on much longer, i’ll have little choice. :/

No further news from Flavio so far. I wonder what’s going on with Yahoo. Will write to DreamHost later to enquire about their services and how to go about transferring my current domain. If I do not hear from Yahoo or get a solution soon, it’s bye-bye Yahoo and hello DreamHost for me.

This problem is two days old? Wow… and its not resolved yet…

I’m also using yahoo webhosting… the same problem here and I’ve got no response from them yet…

OK… I am at the brink of switching webhost due to the incompetency of Yahoo webhosting. Anyone has any pointers to tips of switching webhosts? I have backed up the database tables of my current blogs. How do I install a new copy of WordPress on my webhost and move my database across?

A spark of hope… I just checked my blogs and it’s back working normally. Took a look at christoball’s blog at https://tf2.org/blog/ and that seems to be working fine. No luck with thenoisedotus’ and gilchrist-electric’s blogs. How are the others doing?

Seems to be fine for me too. Seems like these people are Monday to Friday kinda guyz

matt said: “I’m removing Yahoo from the hosting page until they resolve this issue.”

Not for nothing, but I’ve seen nothing but problems from people who are hosting with them… all over the forums. IMHumbleO they should be removed from the hosting page permanently…

Arrgh… after a brief respite of about 30 mins, the error is back to haunt my blogs again. Same goes for christoball’s page. *shakes fist at yahoo*. Just what is wrong with them?

I got a resonse back from Flavio asking for that never ending list of information. I just want some type of an answer on when/if it will be fixed or I will be jumping ship and heading over to a new host to. My domain name just happens to be up for renewal right now anyway.

How much more time should we be willing to give them? One or two days?

I am also in this same boat. I have two blogs with Yahoo and this weekend found them down. I found this thread when trying to investigate. There is also a Webcomic that I read that is hosted the same way that has been down. It seems like this is very widespread. After reading this I am definitely going to send them a really nasty e-mail.

“Yahoo! 360 is a recent addition that has launched, and now WordPress users are crippled?”
I too noticed this and think that it is mighty suspicious. I wouldn’t be suprised if they don’t just pull Moveable Type support off of their lists now that they have their own blogging tool.

Seems OK now….but for how long…
I’ve had issues of a different kind with another blog.
    Both hosted by Yahoo.
I dont think they want to discourage WP an MT just because they have 360.

But they need to assurances on WP, at least give a possitive responxe as to they know whats going on.

And not say…”its a WP matter”

Let’s be crystal clear on ANY ‘Errcode: x’ messages.

These are absolutely certainly definitely utterly positively NOT the fault of WordPress.

They ARE because the host’s database files have broken.
    WordPress did not break it.
If ANY host says this is a WordPress problem, ask them to come to this thread and prove it. Ask them to post to the hackers list and state why WordPress broke their code.

This is 1000% a host problem and if their tech support say different then they know as much about tech as I do the mating habits of the lesser green spotted Amazonian flying frog.

Your money. Your choice. Move if you can.

“If their tech support say different then they know as much about tech as I do the mating habits of the lesser green spotted Amazonian flying frog.”

Lol. I think that statement sums up most tech support nowadays.

“Your money. Your choice. Move if you can.”

In defense of Yahoo, I have had four sites hosted with them for over a year and a half and this was the first problem I have ever had with them. To the best of my knowledge I have had zero downtime before this. That is much better than what my work has which pays 4 times as much money for hosting with more downtime than I get.

However, I have sent Yahoo an email about this and if I don’t get a satisfactory answer in the next day, then I plan on making it clear to them that I will look elsewhere. Hopefully enough people will raise a stink about this to force Yahoo’s hand, because I for one don’t want to have to switch Web hosts at this point.

    I’m… fixed?

It looks like everything is moving okay now…
I’m still a bit wary. Here is the email I just got. No more Flavio for me…
