Cant delete backup entries after moving site

I recently moved/cloned a site from one directory and domain to another.

The site that was moved has backup entries left over which I cant remove, after potentially removing the data relevant to these entries from the original site.

There are no files in the backup directories. I have checked. It seems that this is stale data left over that has no reference point/file.

They may have been present for a while as there were approx 30 files in the original backup directory and yet there are only 15 entries that I cant seem to delete.

How can I go about removing this irrelevant data?
