I recently re-installed WP on my site. I see that jetpack plugin is automatically installed. I deactivated, then deleted jetpack, however, after a few minutes it re-intalls itself and activates itself. I have done this a number of times. I have gone into cron jobs and deleted the jetpack cronjobs but they keep on re-installing.

The only way I have been able to keep the re-install/activate from happening is by changing the wp>wp-content>plugins directory to read/execute only. This prohibits any jetpack agent from installing into my plugins.

What is going on. It is very inconvenient to have my plugins directory read/execute only.

  • Jetpack does not automatically install or activate itself. It sounds like something else on the site may be doing that, such as a theme or web host that requires the Jetpack plugin.

I’d recommend asking your web host to check their logs to find out what is triggering that plugin installation.
