I just installed wp and uploaded the theme. Not sure why, but the widgets won’t budge. I have another wp site, so I know how to do it. Actually nothing works on that page. I tried clicking the help button and nothing. I have my site hidden by an under construction plugin. If you absolutely need to see it, I’ll deactivate it. Thanks

  • Some themes do not work well with widgets, switch to the default theme and see if same issue after deactivating the plugin to ensure it’s not that.

Thanks for the reply. I wasn’t actually using any plugins yet. I’m using the Flexx theme, and the widgets are the ones that are available through them.

What browser and version are you using?

I only had one plugin installed. I just deactivated it but nothing changed. I have Chrome and am using 3.3.1.

OK, so I tried another theme, and I still have this problem. Not sure what to do, and I really need some help. It’s not the plugins. Like I said, I just installed this last night.
Looking at old forums, it looks like this was an issue 2 years ago. But it was happening after a wp update. Not sure why it would happen the first time I install it.
Just to be clear, nothing on the widgets page works. I can’t drag, I can’t go to screen options or help. When I click, nothing happens.
    HELP!!!!!
    Thanks

Check to see if you have java enabled in Chrome:

I checked and it is enabled on Chrome. I looked around to see if this was happening anywhere else on my dashboard, and it is in the menus also.
Could there have been a javascript update that I missed or something?

I recreated the issue in Chrome when I turned off java. Try another browser to confirm, then see if you are running the latest Chrome.

Thanks Deepbevel. Javascript has been enabled all along in Chrome. I had already tried Firefox earlier today, and it still didn’t work. I also have the latest version of Chrome. Is that what you meant, or did I miss something? Thanks again

OK, so I just tried something that I finally found in an old forum. I activated the Use Google Libraries plugin, and it all works now! So thankful!!

Yes, that’s what I meant. Well, it looks deeper than ussual. I might concider re uploading fresh copies of all wp files except wp-content.
you’ve pretty much tried everything else that I can think of. I’ve seen this caused by themes and plugins which use jQuery, but you already covered that.

Great News. What is google libraries? it’s a wp pluigin? what does it address?

I don’t really understand it, other than it’s something to do with Javascript. I just know it works!! Thanks again for all your help.
