Just wanted to let you know that I can’t drag widgets in the widgets admin panel. I’m using Firefox 3 and Safari 4 for Mac. Is this me or are others experiencing it?

No, others are experiencing that and there’s a number of threads on that subject. Almost all the solutions to the problem have involved deactivating plugins.

This happened to me as well. I used the auto-install feature (it’s worked great in the past…) after a full back up and all plug-ins deactivated. Couldn’t access my second side bar, and wasn’t able to drag widgets.

Deactivated all plug-ins, then reactivated them one by one, each time checking to see if I could access my 2nd side bar, etc. It worked! I found the bad plug-in “RSS Icon Widget.” It hadn’t caused problems before the upgrade, though.

I was able to fix this-likely related to the plug-ins. I was using the Thesis theme v1.5. After upgrading the theme to v1.5.1 the widget functioning came back.

well, after upgrading to 2.8 all the widgets were gone. The ads were still there under ads unit but nothing cames up when I opened the widgets tool. alot of work was down the tube and it’s very frustrating. Deactingting and reactivating widgets didn’t solve problem for me.

    1. Not all plugins currently work with WordPress 2.8. If that’s a problem for you, I’d suggest contacting the individual plugin developers for an update.

    2. Just one incompatible plugin can stop other plugins (and a host of other Admin functionalities) from working correctly. And I’ve known it take days for the effect to manifest itself. It’s not just about deactivating/reactivating. It’s about deactivating all plugins, then checking to see if this resolves the problem whilst the plugins are still deactivated. If it does, then activate the plugins one by one – checking problem areas/issues after each re-activation – until you find the culprit.

GD Star Rating ( https://www.gdstarrating.com/ ) is the plugin that was breaking my site.

I am using the F2 theme with WordPress 2.8.4

I just found out that on my site WPMarketer

Is causing the problem. There may be others, as that wasn’t in my initial load of plugins. Once I reenable all that I had I’ll put more into this list of “busted” plugins.

I just deleted every plugin from my directory, reloaded wordpress and used the default theme even!

Still no functional wordpress widgets. I have to click the “add” button in order to get them to move to a widget area.

    Any suggestions?
