I am aware that this question has been asked many times here, plus i also did a search and read every topic i could possibly find here on the support forums. But i cant find a response that would correct my problem.

Everything seems to be installed fine. The plugin activated, copied the optional php files to the default and classic themes AND the scriptaculous files are in wp-include/js/scriptaculous. Everything is according to the readme.

I had tried to use the widgets yesterday on my previous installation and it worked then. but today after a fresh install of WP 2.1 and the latest release of the widgets plugin 1.1.20070127 , i cant tend to drag and drop.

    Any suggestions ?
    Thankx in advance
    Regards.

  • I had the same problem. I’m on WP v. 2.1 The boxes were locked – couldn’t move anything. Tried all suggestions and bugfixes in this thread with no luck.

Anyway, I had the King frameword plugin installed (a widget extension tool) and it turned out that this was the culprit. I deactivated the King plugin and I was able to drag/drop the widgets.

Anybody know a bugfix for maing the King framework and WP Widgets coexist in WP 2.1???

Well, I don’t use your “King framework,” so I can’t really comment on that. My problem is that I CAN drag the widgets; they just won’t save their new location if I change the contents of the text widgets.

I’ve tried a lot of things, and I don’t really have much time to try more. It’s essay season at school :(.

Agreed. I’ve had the cannot drag problem and followed every single fix suggested in the forums. I deactivated the King Framework and the King Categories widgets, and all was well.

Actually the King’s Framework seems to have devestated my widget control. Neither can I drag or drop, nor is the full complement of widgets showing up including other widgets that were working fine earlier.

But even when I deleted it, my widgets were still screwed. I even reinstalled the widget plugin to no avail.

I’m a latecomer, and have gone through this entire thread. Nothing has worked. I did have the King Framework and assorted widgets, but I not only deactivated them, I deleted them and I still have no widget control. I cannot drag and drop, nor can I open the control panels for the two that are currently in place. They work, but I can’t do anything to the widget control shown in the Sidebar Widgets page. Any updated suggestions?

    Hi,

I’ve had the same problem and tried a lot of solutions with no luck…

BUT… I found out, that i can drag and drop widgets, when I’ve deactivated ALL my plugins, hereunder Akismet, All in one SEO Pack, Geopress, Hello Dolly, SimpleFlickr, Vipers Videotags and WordPress.com stats.

I don’t know which plugin there are causing the fault yet…

    Best regards
    Claus

i’ve tried everything and when i try to activate the sidebar widget plugin i get this error:

Fatal error: Cannot redeclare register_sidebars() (previously declared in /export/home/bu/bumblebootie/public_html/wp-includes/widgets.php:15) in /export/home/bu/bumblebootie/public_html/wp-content/plugins/widgets/widgets.php on line 42

    HELP!

    same problem but different situation
my old wordpress was 2.2, not draggable and not configurable
So I wait and updated to 2.3, yet still the same

    I’ve noticed 2 errors with IE 7
but not sure are they related:

    Line:13
    Char:65317
    Code:0
    Error:Unterminated string constant
    wp-admin/widgets.php

    Line:66
    Char:3
    Code:0
Error:Object doesn’t support this property or method
    wp-admin/widgets.php

Anyway, it does not work in Firefox 2.0.0.7 as well though no error reported.
