• I can’t edit a contact form I’ve created with Jetpack. When I click the button to add a contact form I only get the option to add a new field. Normally I see the fields I already had.

I’ve used Jetpack and the contact forms lots of times on other sites and I can remember I’ve had this problem once, but I can’t remember the solution.

All plugins are up-to-date and I’m not using any plugins on the list of known issues.

    Can somebody help me?

  • If you want to edit your form, it is possible, though the method isn’t very intuitive.

While you’re editing your post or page, just place the text cursor anywhere within the form code, and click again on the “Add Contact Form” button. It will bring up the popup for that same form. Make your changes, then click the “Add this form to my post” button again. It will not add a new form, but will apply your changes to the existing form.

Thanks for your quick reply. I think I wasn’t clear, but what you describe is exactly what I’m trying to do. It works with all of my websites, except for one. That one is giving me trouble.

When I click on the button in order to edit my earlier made form it does bring up a pop-up, but that only contains the option for a new field. Not the fields you see when you create a new form and not the already created field.

Could you post your existing contact form shortcode here, as it appears in your post editor, so I can try to run some tests and reproduce the issue on my end?

    Thanks!

That’s definitely something we’d like to improve. It’s on our radar and you can follow our progress here:

This is the shortcode. I had a correct e-mailaddress but for now I’ve replaced it.

    [contact-form to='#' subject='Contact via website'][contact-field label='Naam' type='name' required='1'/][contact-field label='E-mail' type='email' required='1'/][contact-field label='Reactie' type='textarea' required='1'/][/contact-form]

I was thinking, maybe it’s caused by Page Builder by SiteOrigin plugin. I’m using their SiteOrigin Editor. I’ve tried using the normal WordPress editor and then it works again. So, I guess that’s my problem. I can workaround it for now, but I’m hoping for a fix.

I’m afraid I’m not too familiar with Page Builder by SiteOrigin. Does it replace the whole content editor in WordPress? If so, it might indeed be what’s causing the issue.

I’ll give the plugin a try, and see if I can figure out what’s wrong. I’ll keep you updated.

I was able to reproduce. Page Builder is quite interesting, it uses its own editor on top of the Visual Editor, and still integrates buttons like Jetpack’s Contact Form button. I found a few errors, and we’ll work on getting those fixed.

    Thanks for the report!
