I’m sorry. I just can’t figure this out. I *have* read the documentation. I am running the latest versions of EME & WordPress on a local Windows box using Xampp. I am also a screen reader user. I simply cannot edit event start or end dates. Nor, seemingly, can I add a future event. In other words, the event date field displays the current date, & nothing I do changes it. My theme is twentynineteen. The only active plugin is EME. I’m running PHP 7.3, memory is 128M. Setting WP_DEBUG to true renders no errors. I don’t know what else to tell you, but I certainly can provide additional information on request.

I have been a member of the WordPress community since 2010, I’m a support contributor here on the forums, so I’m not exactly a newbie to the WordPress ecosystem. So it’s embarrassing to have to ask about something seemingly so simple. I am in process of building a site for a visually-impaired user community, & this plugin looks like exactly what I need, but my inability to edit event dates is at this point a show stopper.

Never mind. I see the clear button now. It might just be easier to allow editing of event dates instead of having to go through all that, but that’s obviously your call. Sorry to have taken up your time.

The datepicker is the one from WordPress. Since dates need to be entered in a specific format, the field itself is read-only, so a clear button was needed to be able to empty the field. The only other choice was to implement a red cross thing next to the field to be able to clear it, but that is visually less appealing (and more work for me). So I blame the datepicker ?? Other datepickers have a better clearing option, but I really wanted to stay with what WordPress provides.

Well, Frankie, here is what I’d say. I’d say that for those of us who are forced to use screen readers because of sight impairment, none of these date pickers are worth a flying flip, & that is the very polite & highly edited version. It’s really a nightmare. Things take forever to clear, I’m trying to make a recurring event & keep getting told the start & end date can’t be the same, & I have absolutely no idea how to edit this or which date is being cleared when the clear button is pressed. It’s an exercise in being beyond frustrated. I’d be a much happier camper if I could just edit dates manually & have done w/it. As I said, I am not a newby, & for me to be having trouble w/such a seemingly simple task is almost approaching criminal. I certainly can’t see how this meets even the WCAG 2.0A standard, much less the AA standard. That is not your fault, obviously, but if WordPress thinks that date picker is accessible, then I wish they could watch me struggle, & they’d soon learn otherwise. It’s really holding up my work. All these interventions to protect us from ourselves truly get annoying quickly. I’ll shut up. I’m sure I’ve said too much already.
