• I am having a number of problems with my site that was working perfectly before:
    * I cannot edit information in a post i.e. the published date, publicize settings,
    * Yoast SEO also is not functioning in the post.
    * I also can’t do quick edits on posts.
    * Adding a featured image times out.
    * Jetpack stats is not functioning, I need to view on wordpress.com

  • Hi,

Some more information on these individual issues will be useful. So, when you saying thinks aren’t functioning, how and why? What errors do you get?

Also, when did it last work and what’s changed since? Did it stop working after a WordPress update, or something?

    Hi David,

Ok for the first one – editing a post:
    – If I click on any of the edit links for Status, Visibility, Publish date, Publicise – either nothing happens or the page just seems to refresh without letting me change any of those.

    – For Yoast SEO – in the post I can see the traffic light, settings and share icons, but no fields to enter anything and can’t click on those.

    – For Jetpack – if I click on Site States, or My Jetpack or any of the options, I just get the Jetpack header and footer with no other information.

    – In posts when I add a featured image it goes through the process of adding but at saving stage it redirects to a blank page and if I click the back arrow I go back to a blank post. Sometimes if I just go out and back my post is saved as a draft with the featured image, but not always.

To be honest, I’m not sure what caused the change, if it was an update or plugin etc. I’ve tried uninstalling some plugins. I also then tried to uninstall and reinstall Yoast SEO, but then also got error messages when trying to add plugins again, but that came right and I was able to reinstall but still have the same issues.

    Thanks for that.

Nothing stands out as an obvious cause so I’d go down the standard method of diagnosing these kinds of issues in WordPress – deactivate all plugins. Do all the non-pluginy issues go away (e.g. featured images in posts)? If so, it’s a plugin issue and you need to activate them again one at a time to see which one is the cause.

If deactivating all the plugins doesn’t help. try switching the theme.

    Let me know the result!

Thank you, I will try the plugin advice. I don’t want to switch the theme – it is a paid for theme that I also use on other sites without any issues. Will let you know, thanks!
