I tried to edit a post and I received this error message:

“The editor has encountered an unexpected error”

On my research, I’ve found that a plug-in might be causing the problem. After test all plugins, I found out that it’s AMP is causing the conflict. I received this error logs:

TypeError: Class constructor m cannot be invoked without 'new'

I just received this e-mail from WP:

    `Howdy!

Since WordPress 5.2 there is a built-in feature that detects when a plugin or theme causes a fatal error on your site, and notifies you with this automated email.

In this case, WordPress caught an error with one of your plugins, AMP.

First, visit your website (https://restrucdev.wpengine.com/) and check for any visible issues. Next, visit the page where the error was caught (https://Mysite/wp-admin/admin-ajax.php) and check for any visible issues.

Please contact your host for assistance with investigating this issue further.

If your site appears broken and you can’t access your dashboard normally, WordPress now has a special “recovery mode”. This lets you safely login to your dashboard and investigate further.

Thanks for reaching out. So we can try to determine more on this can you share the following information:

    1. Your Site Health information. Please share using this form.
    2. Has the editor worked for you previously, or is this the first time you tried to use the AMP plugin?
    3. Does does notice appear as a browser console error or on your dashboard as soon as you open a post or only when you try to save a post?

Once we have the above we can provide some troubleshooting steps.

Hi! Thanks for the prompt response!

I just sent the form as requested. Also I’ve found a dev who has a very similar issue:

    SIMILAR ISSUE

    I hope this info helps.

    Regards

Thanks for sharing the additional information and some of your findings. As we did encounter the same behavior saving posts previously can you follow the steps below and inform me if the same occurs? This can help rule out third party plugin conflicts:

    1. Login to your site from a Chrome browser incognito window
    2. Install and activate the Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin.
    3. Navigate to “Plugins > Health Check & Troubleshooting > Troubleshoot”.
    4. From the same screen click on the “Available Plugins” tab at the top right and then click on the “Enable” option next to “AMP”
    5. Attempt to edit and save a post once more

You can exit troubleshooting mode afterwards.

If the same occurs please inform me of the below:

    1. Has the editor worked for you previously, or is this the first time you tried to use the AMP plugin?
    2. Does does notice appear as a browser console error or on your dashboard as soon as you open a post or only when you try to save a post?

I also notices the below references in your Site Health information:
AMP: version: 1.5.2, author: AMP Project Contributors (latest version: 2.1.4), Auto-updates disabled

Please check whether there is an AMP plugin update available and update accordingly.

    Hello!

1 – Has the editor worked for you previously, or is this the first time you tried to use the AMP plugin?
    Yes, it was working fine.

2 – Does does notice appear as a browser console error or on your dashboard as soon as you open a post or only when you try to save a post?
The only error I see is the “The editor has encountered an unexpected error”.

I ran the Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin and updated AMP plugin as well.

I’m also able to edit/create posts on incognito mode ONLY.

Here is some of the errors message I have:

    [Fri Sep 03 09:42:09.837351 2021] [php7:notice] [pid 29670] [client XX.XXX0.XXXX.XX:XXXXX] auditor:scan=fingerprint {“blog_id”:1,”kind”:”installed-plugin”,”name”:”AMP”,”slug”:”amp/amp.php”,”ver”:”1.5.2″,”sig”:”v1:nohash”}, referer: https://restrucdev.wpengine.com/wp-cron.php?doing_wp_cron=1630662129.6499130725860595703125

    What is my next step?

Thanks for performing those checks. When you mention it works incognito mode only is this when you performed the Health Check & Troubleshooting check using an incognito session, or can you edit posts as you would normally (without the Health Check & troubleshooting plugin active) while using a browser incognito session?

    Here what happened.

First I was working only on INCOGNITO MODE and not working in regular mode.
On regular mode I was receiving the “The editor has encountered an unexpected error” with three buttons:

    • Attempt Recovery
    • Copy Post Text
    • Copy Error

I just tried to Attempt Recovery. Apparently, it didn’t work, but I hit alt+f5 and it worked!!!

I already tried on different Desktops and it’s working fine.

    Thank you guys!!!

If people who had the same issue have the same solution, please tell us on this thread.

    Thanks!

Many thanks for sharing your experience, nice troubleshooting. It sounds like you had to do a hard refresh, which can help with deeper caching issues. We’ll certainly keep this in mind should other users report the same.

Best of luck with your site going forward, and be sure to reach out if you have any further queries.
