    Hello,
I have a problem with the Google Maps widget. When I press the “settings” button, a window opens for me with a spinning circle icon. It takes up to 0,5 h and doesn’t show any settings. I tried disabling other plugins and increasing the memory limit for WordPress, with no result.
I would like to ask for help.

    Hi Daram

Try cranking open the old browser console when the issue occurs:

    https://www.ads-software.com/support/article/using-your-browser-to-diagnose-javascript-errors/#step-3-diagnosis

If the text isn’t in red text, it doesn’t matter. Hopefully, there is something there you can use to diagnose the issue.

    Hi,
First of all, thank You for Your answer.
It seems, I’ve got the same problem with all widgets, for example:

    admin-ajax.php?id=/wp-content/plugins/so-widgets-bundle/widgets/tabs/tabs.php&action=so_widgets_setting_form&_wpnonce=4c63d2b011

    I’ve got the SCRIPT_DEBUG eneabled

I would appreciate any hints that I can use. The situation described so far only occurs with widgets from SiteOrigin. I also have a classic editor for pages and widgets.

    Kind regards

    Hi again,
I’ve found (it seems) a similar thread on the SiteOrigin forum:

    https://siteorigin.com/thread/400-bad-request-blank-screen-opening-widget-settings/

    Could it be similar?

    Kind regards

    Hi daram,

Thank you for a copy of the request. Can you please send me the contents of your console? Please refer to this guide on how to access your browser console.

Does this issue occur with all instances of the SitOrigin Widgets Block with Google Maps set or just one specific instance of that block?

    Could it be similar?

The issue in the linked thread was resolved shortly after that thread and was a Windows IIS specific issue.

    Kind regards,
    Alex

    Hi,
Some text can be strange, because a part of it is translated, but here it is:

This page uses a custom "zoom" property. Consider using calc() in the appropriate property values or using "transform" along with "transform-origin: 0 0".

    Hi daram,

Thanks for trying. You previously mentioned you tried disabling plugins, does this issue occur when you temporarily disable all non-SiteOrigin plugins and use a default theme?

Can you please provide me with a screenshot of what you see before and after clicking the settings button? You can upload a screenshot using an image hosting site like Imgur.

    Kind regards,
    Alex

    Hi,

The issue occures with default theme (non-child), and other default wp-themes.
Here is the screen before clicking the settings button:

And below is the screen after clicking the settings button:

Anyway – if there is no solution possible at that time, is there any option I could manually insert the Google API code into the plugin files?

    Hi daram,

Thanks. It’s possible for this request is being blocked. Please reach out to your hosting provider. Ask if mod_security (or an equivalent) is being used and if it is, are you getting blocked by it?

You could in theory do this by editing this line. Unfortunately, we’re not able to provide direct assistance with doing this or support for any issues that arise as a result of making plugin file edits.

    Hi,
I just received a reply from the hosting: “I kindly inform you that mod_security module is not present on the server.” However, inserting the API code directly into the file location in the plugin causes a PHP error. However, when insering into the $api_key variable, it causes a string of gray icons with exclamation points to be displayed.

    Best regards,
    daram

    Hi Daram,

I’m sorry to hear that. At this stage, we’re unsure why this is occurring. For us to really investigate this further we would need further access to your site to run some tests. This isn’t possible via www.ads-software.com but it is possible via our support forums. Please post a thread on our website and we’ll be able to take a closer look.

Unfortunately, we’re not able to provide direct assistance with this due to the non-supported nature of making edits to files.

However, when insering into the $api_key variable, it causes a string of gray icons with exclamation points to be

That’s a sign of an API error. It could be due to the file edit, or an issue with the API key.

Google requires a number of steps to complete before an API key are useable. Such as billing details added and specific APIs enabled. I recommend following out API setup guide here.

    Kind regards,
    Alex
