Can't edit text on a page

  • OK, I’ll try to make this as concise as possible. I have an author site that was set up in an odd way (to me, anyway) by a guy who I don’t want to ask for help because he’ll want a retainer.

    Anyway, there is a BOOKS, ETC. page (https://www.davidfulk.com/books-etc/), and the image and text blurb for the book at the top (RAISING RUFUS) are not on that page in WP, but on another page in the WP menu called BOOKS (https://www.davidfulk.com/book/raising-rufus/). The link LEARN MORE links to that page.

    I want to make edits to the longer blurb on the BOOKS page, but even though I can make the edits in the WP field, they do not “take” and the page remains exactly as it was. Other pages I can edit, no problem.

    Incidentally, how do I get rid of that empty box with the broken link on the BOOKS, ETC. page? I can’t find it anywhere on the site. I also can’t find that “Learn More” text/link anywhere on the site.

    When you say WP menu I assume you mean the admin menu on the left?

    Since we do not know how your site is set up I (again) assume that you have an admin menu item called Book. If you expand that menu item you see individual booktitles.

    Would that be correct?

    (I would assume post type is BOOKS and Raising Rufus is the title of the book.)

    Yes, an item in the admin menu titled BOOKS (with a pushpin icon). When I open the item, the choices are All Items and Add New. When I click on All Items, up comes the title, Raising Rufus, which I can click on to edit. Except it won’t accept edits.

    Ok.

    Can you edit the text in the editor but it won’t save your changes?

    Hmm… well, when I make edits, they do not show up when I look at it in Preview. But when I look at the site from outside WP, the edits are there.

    So, should I consider that just a quirk in the system and say problem solved? Or is there more I should know?

    Ok, so edits don’t show up when you preview the post. But they do show up when you save the page and visit it, I understand?

    That’s correct.

    Ok. If you update & then hit preview does it show the last update?
