• I am using the revolution theme and in the editor in WordPress 2.8.1 and when I go to edit a file like sidebar.php I get something, other than the php file in the editor view. CSS style sheet looks fine. but all the php files are not correct. Any ideas ?

  • I could be wrong but it looks like FrontPage extensions are active on your site. You might want to turn them off if that’s the case.

I dont think I can as I have other sites which use them on the same server.

    Any other ideas ?

Anyone also getting this error ?

It is a paid theme, correct?

Then it may be in encrypted format.. Ask studiopress (from where you have purchased theme) if you can make changes to it..

I am having the same problems with this theme. I only started happening after the 2.8.1 update though. We’ve been able to edit it previously.

I doubt the FrontPage extensions are causing problems though….

So a friend emailed Brian who created the theme and said to just remove the _vti_cnf folder from the theme folder. He said he has no idea how it got there.

Once I removed that folder I was able to edit the theme.

Maybe try that chefben and see if it works for you.

Yes it worked, I simply removed the _vti_cnf which looks to me as being saved when an update occurred last time.

I had the same problem with the default theme. I had WordPress set up as a subdirectory of my main site. I worked with the site using Visual Studio 2005 which uses FrontPage Extensions to save/retrieve files, then all the .php files in the theme editor showed only the contents of the FP files.

I set up a new subdomain and re-copied the WordPress files to it and it works again, and I won’t use FP on this subdomain to avoid the problem in the future.

The problem itself is ridiculous though, why is WP pulling content from the files in _vti_cnf?
