Running version 2.1.51. Page cache seems to be working correctly.

On the other hand, when I try to turn on object cache, the icons change as expected, but when I click Save, the slider slides back left and turns red again. Any suggestions?

Please allow me some time to investigate.
Did you install/update from WP directory?

reason is an outdated .js file, can you please update to 2.1.52 and reload ?

I installed 2.1.59, then I followed your directions. The settings were saved. But also, an error message was displayed:
“The Cache settings are inconsistent, please save again.”

I saved again, but the message is still present. What do I try now?

I installed 2.1.72. I restarted WordPress. I went to https://www.imnewswatch.com/wp-admin/admin.php?page=atec_wpca There I see “Object Cache is inactive.” so I click the slider to turn it on and click “Save”

Then, I get the error message “The cache settings are inconsistent (KEY_SALT is not defined), please click save to run the self-fix routine.” so I click Save again.

WordPress gives me the error “There has been a critical error on this website. Please check your site admin email inbox for instructions. If you continue to have problems, please try the?support forums.”
The error isn’t as critical as WP says, apparently because I can back out of it and proceed as if nothing happened. As long as I don’t try to activate the object cache, I can do any back end work I need to to.

If you expierence issues with the latest update v2.1.84, please rename or delete the file /wp-content/object-cache.php, reload and enable object caching again. This should solve the issue.
