I have several WordPress folders that include upper case letters.
If I add an upper case folder name to the exclusion list in malware scanner, it changes the upper case letters to lower case.
This can be seen as soon as the settings are saved.
Then, the scanner will scan the folder, not exclude it, because the upper case folder name does not exactly match the lower case folder name.

    For example:
    wp-includes/ID3 changes to wp-includes/id3
    wp-includes/SimplePie changes to wp-includes/simplepie
    wp-includes/Text changes to wp-includes/text

Folder names using all lower case letters are excluded correctly from the malware scan.

We have look into the issue.

Please, use backslashes instead of slashes:
    wp-includes\ID3
    wp-includes\SimplePie
    wp-includes\Text

    Did it work for you?

I tried backslash. It makes no difference if I use a forward slash / or backslash \.
Same results when running malware scanner.
Upper case letters are changed to lower case letters as soon as I save the exclusion list settings.
Forward slash works in the excluded folders list.
No error message if using forward slash or backslash.
Using plugin version 2.118, auto-updated this morning.

    Hello,

We’ve made fixes. You can try this fixed version:

    https://github.com/CleanTalk/security-malware-firewall/releases/download/fix-version/security-malware-firewall.zip

    – Go to WordPress Administrator Panel —> Plugins.
    – Find the plugin “Anti-Spam by CleanTalk” —> Deactivate.
    – After the automatic page refreshing find the plugin again “Anti-Spam by CleanTalk” —> Delete. Confirm files deletion.
    – Download the plugin archive from the link.
    – Go to Plugins —> Add New —> Upload Plugin.
    – Choose the downloaded archive and press “Install Now”.
    – After the installation, activate the plugin, make sure that the access key matches the key from your CleanTalk Dashboard.

    Did it help?

    Thanks for making a fix.
I believe your instructions should say Security and Malware plugin, not Anti-Spam plugin. I use both.
I do not want to delete and manually re-install the fixed Security plugin because I think I will lose my plugin settings and will have to set them up again manually.
It is not a critical or urgent problem so I can wait until the next revision of the plugin is released and my system will auto-update.
    Thank you for your support.

    Hello @mountain-hiker-1,

Yes, we meant the Security plugin. I apologize for that mistake.

Please note that the plugin setting will not reset if you reinstall the plugin manually. Just make sure that the option “Complete deactivation” is unchecked in the plugin settings.

    Thank you!
