• Hey, I am trying to use buddypress in my site, and had to install “buddypress templates pack” since my theme doesnt automatically support buddypress. The instructions skip right to step 3 and are very unclear on what it is i am supposed to do to get it aligned with my site.

    any suggestions?

    see what i mean?

I have not made any changes to any templates I just made changes in css to make the tabs Have tried to switch to default twentyten theme and see if you have same.

Use template pack to move buddypress files to twentyten theme and then without making any changes to templates check and see.

    From looking at it again

One more thing I remember is plugin Buddypress Template Pack active as that is where css file is for buddypress.

I have made it to step 3.. but I am getting this error message at bottom of step 3..

Fatal error: Call to undefined function bp_core_is_multisite() in /home/jdavis/public_html/wp-content/plugins/bp-template-pack/bp-template-pack.php on line 188

Can someone help me with this..?

The easiest way to get up and running with BuddyPress is via the automatic install. However, it’s still possible to manually download BuddyPress. Once you have BuddyPress downloaded, you will need to upload it to your /wp-content/plugins/ folder.

I did the automatic install for the BP Template Plugin but it errors out in the 3rd step….

Are you saying I have to install the entire BP setup.. Won’t that override my current theme..? I just want to add BP to the user dashboard of my current theme…

@dollarpermile – you have to install and activate the BuddyPress plugin. Only then can you install and activate BP Template Pack. Unfortunately, BP Template Pack version 1.0.2 needs to be updated for BP 1.2.6. Also BP 1.2.7 will be rolling out soon to address some necessary bug fixes, so you might want to wait installing BP till then … unless you’re willing to test BP 1.2.6 and report or fix bugs.

    bp-template-pack.php on line 188 is re: <?php if ( bp_core_is_multisite() ) : ?>

I’ve spent the greater part of the weekend trying to get this to work. It is obviously way beyond my skills. I am more than willing to compensate anyone who is willing to make the changes for me. We have a non-profit organization and funds are limited but I think we can be more than fair with our payment. I’m getting desperate!

Ok So I have downloaded and installed both buddypress and bp-template-pack and have completed step 3 but still the style on pages is all messed up..

My opinion: bp-template-pack is a worthless plugin that just gets developers hopes up only to be let down when themes don’t accept the bp format..

I mean seriously, the creator of this aspects everyone to still have to hack their core theme files in order to make work.. Why? WordPress should remove this junk plugin from their plugins list…

Complete crap that does not work!!!

I have it working on my website and I am using twenty ten child theme I have lots buddypress plugins along with buddypress theme pack.

It’s obvious that converting a theme to make it BuudyPress compatible isn’t a task that a novice like myself can complete. This does not however mean that the plugin is to blame. Anyone with even the most basic understanding of programming would realize that it would be impossible for any plugin to be able to convert every theme being used. The shear number of variable is unmanageable. The conversion obviously will require specific changes and modifications that can only be done by hand. Give it a break!
