    Hi there,

I cannot figure out how to add a cover template image. I have not yet published the theme, but in my live preview, the Cover Template options in the sidebar only give me options for colors and overlays—not the ability to upload an image itself.

I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong! Maybe I need to set a static page? Any help is very appreciated. Thank you!

    Hi @formidablefemme,

The color and overlay settings apply to all pages using the cover template, whereas the image is unique to each page, so that’s handled on the “Edit Page” screen.

Go to Pages → All Pages, click on the page using the Cover Template, find the “Featured Image” heading in the right sidebar, expand it, click “Set featured image”, and select an image to use. When you’re done, click the blue update button. When you visit the page now, the image will be displayed with the settings you specified in the Customizer.

    Hi Anders,

Thanks so much for your reply. I am still really struggling to figure this out and I’m not sure why — I tried to add a cover image with text, but it didn’t fill the screen, and I don’t seem to have a “wide” option in my settings for the cover template. I then tried to also add a featured image as you suggested, but now two images are coming up on my Home page. It looks nothing like the demo site linked in the theme page!

I would link to my site here but it is in maintenance mode while I make edits. I’m not the best at building my website, but I’ve had it for four years and just seem to be struggling to make the switch to a different theme.

If you have any advice, I would appreciate it — thank you!

Anders, nevermind — I figured it out! Thanks so much for your help.

@formidablefemme If you figured it out, it would be helpful to explain what you figured out just in case someone else has the same difficulty.

(I just stumbled upon this topic and it hadn’t anything to do with what I was looking for. So this is just meant to be a friendly hint without checking if it really is needed. It’s just a general rule of thumb to answer the question yourself, if you found the answer so to help others.)
