Can't find dashboard

  • I am not tech savvy, but seemingly successfully downloaded MAMP and wordpress on my macbook yesterday. When I went to go to the dashboard this am I couldn’t find it anywhere. I’ve been looking through forums for hours trying to figure it out with all the recommendations like go to: localhost:8888/wordpress/wp-login.php, etc, but that isn’t working for me. It just takes me to a page that says safari can’t find that page????

    But did you install them both?

    Are you able to successfully start the MAMP servers and access the MAMP Start Page?

    Via phpMyAdmin from the MAMP Start Page, did you create a new, empty database for the WP installation?

    Did you place the extracted wordpress folder from the WP Package ZIP into Applications/MAMP/htdocs ?

    Did you successfully run the WP install after all this?

    Keep in mind that WP is not an application you download and run. It must be installed on a web server. That is what MAMP is.

    MAMP is an application that is downloaded and run. It MUST be running (both Apache and MySQL server icons in the green) for any WP site installed to work.
