Here is what I have.

WordPress address (URL) https://gunnisonriverflyshop.com/wordpress
Site address (URL) https://gunnisonriverflyshop.com

I have a regular homepage. On this page I would like the “blog” link to take me to the wordpress blog. WordPress is installed in the “wordpress” directory on the root directory

Set both of the URL values to https://gunnisonriverflyshop.com/wordpress

That’s were it was after install. I just changed it back and it is just taking me back to my homepage. (even after lots of refreshing)

Are you absolutely sure that both URL values at Settings/General in your admin panel are set to https://gunnisonriverflyshop.com/wordpress ? Everything that I’m seeing on your site suggests otherwise.

Do you have any .htaccess redirection rules that would be redirecting /wordpress/ to / ?

In your .htaccess file, check both the root directory and the /wordpress/ directory.

the one in my /wordpress directory has the following content:

ForceNoProxy On

I didn’t see one in the root directory

Just to test, change the name of the .htaccess file in the /wordpress/ directory to htaccess (remove the dot). Then, clear your browser’s cache and try again.

grrr…still bouncing back to my homepage

Try decativating all plugins. If that resolves the issue, reactivate each one individually until you find the cause.

If that does not resolve the issue, try switching to the Default theme (WordPress 2.9) or the Twenty Ten theme (WordPress 3.0) to rule-out a theme-specific issue.

I already have all plugins deactivated

I just switched to default them and it did the same thing

If you haven’t already, rename the htaccess file back to .htaccess (add the dot), then try re-saving your permalink structure at Settings/Permalinks in your admin panel. If WordPress cannot automatically edit the .htaccess file, it will provide manual instructions after saving.
