    Hello,

I’ve been tasked with updating my group’s website. I have 0 experience in anything website/wordpress related so I’m still very much getting to grips with everything.

I downloaded Local by Flywheel to basically build a new website from scratch; it’s a very small site (academic group website) and so building it up locally on my PC was a good way to learn. I chose Neve as the theme, and once I was happy with it I tried to copy it over the live version (Nucleare theme). However, I quickly discovered that I couldn’t download any plugins on the live version as the site is hosted using some sort of free-plan (it suggested I upgrade to a business plan – do I really have to pay £240 to allow plugins?). I then looked into simply redoing the site on the live version, by copying exactly what I had done on my local version. This is impossible as I can’t find the Neve theme in the theme searcher – it’s not under the listed free themes or the premium themes.

So basically: why can’t I find the Neve theme on the live version? I suspect it’s something to do with not being up to date with something, or maybe some sort of hosting issue?

Any and all help for this complete WordPress noob is very appreciated!

    Hey,

The way suspended themes appear might be weird, with no reasoning behind, here are all the details: https://themes.trac.www.ads-software.com/ticket/86222#comment:5 .

We’ve been asked to remove the starter site calls from the theme and we did so, in the next update starter sites part should be part of a plugin that you’ll need to install, once the demo site is imported, the plugin can be uninstalled.

Unfortunately, there is no timeline, the themes part of the official repository is run by volunteers, for which day jobs are taking the priority, might be up tomorrow, or might be up in a week or a month. Is important to be aware, that there is nothing to be worried about, in the meantime you can get the latest version from our website if you wish so.

Right ok so Neve has been suspended and is pending approval.

You mention we’ll have to install plugins to get it working – at the minute I’m not allowed to install any plugins, it says I have to upgrade to the business plan (£240/year!) to do so. Is it not possible to install plugins on the personal or premium payment plans?

I really like the Neve theme but I won’t be able to use it if it demands plugins for installation which therefore requires subscribing to the WP business plan.

    Hey,

Orbitfox plugin would be needed, it seems that you can install official plugins with the current plan, you’ll need a higher plan to upload custom themes & plugins.
