Can't find them after activating it

  • I’m a newbee. When I first installed WordPress through Bluehost I was able to activate a theme and edit it. I’ve since updated WordPress 42.2 and now cannot find theme after activating it. I only see the welcome screen. What am I doing wrong?

  • You mean the dashboard welcome screen? You don’t see your dashboard menu far left? Have you tried dismiss the welcome screen?

    No. I can get onto MY Site screen. And I can get from there back to dashboard. And now, after re-loading WP 4.2.2 I can click on ‘get started here’ and get up onto Add Post screen. And preview will take me back to My Site screen. But I don’t know how to get to the theme screen from there.

    What exactly do you mean you re-loaded it?

    The WordPress you describe seems perhaps non-standard as if bluehost might have customised it. Have you tried asking bluehost?

    I did ask Bluehost for help on this. They said it was not their issue, that it was probably the theme and I should talk to the theme creator, WordPress.

    I meant that I re-installed WordPress update to WordPress 4.2.2. Doing that did fix one problem. Before that when I clicked on ‘get started here’ nothing happened. Now when I click on it it brings up the ‘Add Post’ screen.

    Also, before I installed the WP 4.2.2 update I was able to view my theme screen and customize the theme.

    I have no content up on the site other than tests. So I am wondering if maybe I need to start over, and re-install a fresh version of WordPress?

    Also what is the name of your theme?

    I re-installed WP 4.2.2 update from ‘update’ widget on my dashboard.

    The theme I was playing with is twenty-fifteen.

    OK good, so lets start over: What happens when you visit https://www.williamkemsley.com/wp-admin and input your username and password?

    It opens on a screen that says DASHBOARD at top left, beneath which is Jetpack and an invitation to use Wordpres.com. At right is Quick Draft
    Next row left is At a glance. At right is Save Draft beneath which are titles of three of my drafts
    Next left is the word Activity beneath which is a smiley face
