• I am trying to build my first website (with fairly limited knowledge) using Bluehost and Word Press. I installed WP through the cpanel in Bluehost thinking I would not have to do any of the manual install. However, when I connect to the website using FireZilla, I don’t see directories or anything else even though its says its connected. I was hoping to go in and edit a theme that I had picked out but clearly I have jumped too far ahead. Can someone please tell me what I need to do to get the Word Press directories for my site to show up in FTP at this point?

    Thank you so much.

  • FTP normally gets you one level above your actual web site. On almost all web hosts, /public_html/ is the directory where you will find the root directory of your web site. Where you should find either your WordPress folder (if you did NOT install to the root) or your WordPress folders (wp-admin, etc.).

Thanks for your response. I am beginning to think the problem has to do more with Bluehost because when I am in FTP I don’t even see the /public_html/ directory. All that is there is a forward slash and nothing is in that directory. I am going to try to get help with this on the Bluehost forum.
    Thank you for your time!
