• There is a big difference between the free and premium versions of the plugin. We started with the free version and then switched to the premium version and it broke everything we created in the free version. But that isn’t our problem (I don’t think.) I should note that we had to delete the free version because it caused a fatal error when installing the premium version.

We create a new test tournament with 4 “teams”. Our teams are individuals so the free version was a bit easier to use for us as we didn’t have to create a team for each individual. Regardless, we added 4 “teams”, 1 for each individual. We assigned them to the 1-4 seeds in the tournament. Saved everything… viewed the tournament. We get this on our page “No games found for tourney: test-tournament”

No problem we figure. We go to the Update Games navigation link. The page has no games listed. We see our “Test Tournament” in the drop down. We click “Update Tournament Table” just to be on the safe side. Nope, no games. We then clicked “Update Games” thinking that might solve the problem. We are hit with a “No Games Updated” error.

So I watched your video on Vimeo and your games pages has all sorts of games listed but mine doesn’t…

Since you’re using the commercial version of this plugin we recommend you go to their official support channel so you can get support from the people who know it best.

    https://shoalsummitsolutions.com/downloads/mstw-bracket-builder-premium/

The vendors are the best resource for support of commercial products. Also, as the author is aware, commercial products are not supported in these forums.

    Hey bdbrown,

Thanks for the reply but their website has their official support channel listed as this forum for ALL plugins. Maybe the author is violating the terms of the forum, but that is what is listed on the page you linked. Also, the menu item for support under the plugin menu item links to this support forum. “Gold support” is an additional $25.

    As stated on this page:
    https://shoalsummitsolutions.com/mstw-bracket-builder-updated/

The free version is available on www.ads-software.com, and the premium version is available on shoalsummitsolutions.com.

If the plugin is hosted in the www.ads-software.com plugin repository, the authors may, although they are not required to, provide support for that plugin in the www.ads-software.com forums. If it’s not hosted here, they cannot provide support here. Commercial products (i.e., those not hosted on www.ads-software.com) are also addressed here:

I don’t know if this is “ClickHarder” Ryan Newsome, or Trio Web Development. BUT …

Correct, the premium version of MSTW Bracket Builder is NOT supported on this forum.

Yes, you must deactivate and delete the free version before loading the premium version, as it says all over the documentation.

Yes there is a forum for the premium version.

No, you do not have to be a Gold Support member or pay an additional fee to use it, or the tutorials.

If I had an e-mail address for you, I would send you all the information.

    Mark,

You provided NO documentation or direction for any support for your premium plugins. Your support page on your website says to look in the readme file, but the zip file of the plugin has NO readme file anywhere in any of the folders.

You state on your website support page: “Basic support is free for all plugins through www.ads-software.com. This support is intended to answer simple questions (holes in the users documentation), and address bugs.” I found a bug and I posted it in the most logical place based on what your website states.

Your website only provides support links to THIS forum. No links to any other support options except for Gold Support which. You sent NO emails after purchase pointing to any sort of purchased support forum. I can’t find any documentation anywhere on your website that shows any purchased plugin support other than Gold Support. If there is, please point me in that direction.

Your support page only has three links “Basic Support”, “Gold Support” (listed for $25), and “Dedicated Consulting”. There are NO links for purchased plugin support.

I though maybe I could login to access the premium support but the login doesn’t recognize the email address that I registered with so I assume there is no account.

Yes the deactivate and delete and incompatibility with the free version is addressed on the website, however, it is not address anywhere within the plugin as there is no readme file! Which wasn’t my question anyways, just stating it would have been nice if you built in a validation check on activation…

I sent you a contact on your website using the email address I registered for and linked it to this form stating that this was the only method of support listed on your website. So you should have already had my email and if not, I just sent another one.

FIRST, PLEASE STOP USING THIS FORUM TO RANT. IT IS AN INAPPROPRIATE USE OF THIS FORUM. THEREFORE, THIS IS MY LAST RESPONSE.

Please send me an e-mail to the address provided, and I will try my best to help you resolve any issues you may be experiencing with the plugin.

YES, there is abundant documentation. https://shoalsummitsolutions.com/category/users-manuals/mstw-bracket-builder-premium/. Not to mention the video tutorials.

NO, there is not a link for purchased plugin support because that comes with your plugin purchase. I send you that information directly, IF I can find an e-mail address. I used the only e-mail address I could find on the PayPal receipt. Please send me an e-mail from the e-mail address you would prefer and the name you would prefer. I will then correct your account so you WILL be able to login to the site in the way you choose.

A readme.txt file is not necessary. The readme file provides the information necessary for WP.org repository to do its thing. Nothing necessary for the plugin, and certainly not sufficient documentation. In fact, my readme files typically provide links to the information on shoalsummitsolutions.com – FAQ, Install Instructions, etc – not the texual information.

Sorry, I have seen no email from you. Not in my inbox, not in my Spam. Perhaps gmail is misbehaving. Please re-send the email to the address above. Adgin, use the from address you want to use on the site and include the first and last name you want to use on the site.

So it seems we’ve reached the end of the useful life of this thread. You’re welcome to debate the author’s business model and who sent emails to whom when; just take the debate to a different location. This topic is closed to further replies.
