Can't get a shortcode to work in the table description.

I need to insert a shortcode for a term in my glossary plugin into the table description in Tablepress. When I add the shortcode [glossary slug=’my-term’ /] it displays the shortcode as text.
Does the table description field only accept text?
Is there a work around?
