• I have added a plugin to my blog that allows users to edit their cooments. All works fine in Firefox but it doesn’t work in IE7. It does work in IE7 on the author’s Plugin Pgae . I tried disable plugins that supposedly caused problems (wp grins, live preview) but it still doesn’t work in IE7.

Any ideas how to fix this problem would be greatly appreciated ??

  • Hi Bhoney,

The plugin works with WP Grins and Live Preview. Could you go into detail as far as what works and what doesn’t?

When you hover over a comment, does it highlight yellow? Can you click on the comment and the textarea comes up? Or does the plugin just simply not work?

In IE no hover effect appears and nothing can be edited. Smilies and live preview still work fine. So basically it just doesn’t work. But it isn’t your plugin- it’s my site for some reason ?? . I tested this on another test site of mine and it did work in IE and it works for IE when I posted on your site. Does it work for you in IE7 on my site?

Oh yeah, it works in the admin panel. I can change people’s link in the dashboard.

    Bhoney,

I unfortunately don’t have IE 7 myself to test it. I have recruited others before who had IE 7 and they were able to get it to work fine. If you could direct me to an old post that you don’t mind me commenting on to test, I can try using IE 6.

If all else fails, you can turn off comment editing for your readers in the admin panel and you can still use it as admin.

PS: I didn’t know the plugin allowed the link editing in the dashboard. That is cool. I did know it could edit comments in the Comments admin panel, but not on the main dashboard screen.

I feel it’s not really necessary to take up anymore of your time though because the issue is somehow my blog. I tested the plugin on my test blog using the same theme and basically the same plugins and it works just fine in IE7. I disabled all plugings that were comment related that I thought may be in conflict, but still nothing. I am pretty much at a loss now. But the plugin does work in IE7 just not on my particular blog.

    Bhoney,

    Doesn’t work in IE 6 either. ??

I’m sorry I couldn’t figure out how to get it to work for your site. If you happen to figure it out, please let me know.

I’m sure it is somehow plugin related becasue as I said it works in IE7 on your site and my test site.

Thank you for your time and if I figure out what plugin is causing the conflict I will let you know ??
