Can’t get anything on a map

I’m really confused about how this works. If I understand correctly, once I have this set up I should be able to be able to create a post and include a location in the post excerpt however when I do this the map is still blank and doesn’t add the post to the map. Please do let me know if I have something wrong or if there is a simpler way to do this.

Even when I click on add location from the map menu there is no where to save a new location.
