Can't get comment section to work on blog posts

I developed my own webpage with a blog using wordpress yesterday. Everything from what I’ve seen seems to work as intended on my site with the exception of one thing: I, for some reason, can not get the comments section on my blog post to work.

There is a comment box below the blog posts when I am in the editor (see picture below).

However when publish the post the comment box disappear and is nowhere to be found (see picture below):

I can add comments in the editor and then it will appear on the page (see here), but that’s a very un-practical to do it to say the least. And the comment section then say it is closed.

So what’s the issue here? I looked through the settings and I’ve found no fix for it. I’m using the theme Gridsby
