Can’t get header slider to update

I am trying to customise the slider in the header with my own images. I am using Pagelayer. I can upload my images and it looks great in the editor. I click update and get the pop up “Post Content was updated successfully!” but when I check the editor my images aren’t there, just the stock “128×720” one. Also if I close the editor and reopen it then it’s back to stock.
I’ve tried Parallax and that works fine, it’s just slider I can’t get to work.
