• Last night I upgraded Askimet (auto from the plugin page), all good. Today when I login into wp-admin, I get this page:

https://www.fiftytolife.com/wp-admin/ is the url, page reads:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function akismet_server_connectivity_ok() in /home1/fivzerto/public_html/fiftytolife/wp-content/plugins/akismet/admin.php on line 268

Do I need to delete Askimet from the server? Can’t think of how else I am going to get this fixed.

    Anyone else have this problem?

    Thank you.

All of the blogs on which I upgraded askimet are doing the same thing… bummer. Delete the plug-in or can anyone think of something else?

Just rename the askimet folder on your server which will disable the plugin and allow you to get back into admin. From there try a re-install of the plugin.

Thank you, I did that. That got me into my admin. Then I searched for askimet and installed it right there — it remembered my api key and it works now. I went back in and deleted that renamed folder… all works!

So creepy when you get a page like that… fortunately I’ve seen so many of them, I don’t totally flip out now, lol!

Yeah can be scary but if it’s ever a plugin problem then renaming the folder should disable it allowing access back in!

I guess something went wrong with the askimet upgrade procedure but at least it’s working now!
