Can't get into administrator site

  • I’ve put up my first site, so I’m probably am just being a newb. I installed wordpress 3.0 successfully as it said, but when I click on the link to the admin site it doesn’t recognize the site and I’m left at google search. I also try the link to my website where there should be a default page set up, but there is nothing.

  • Have you only recently registered your domain name? If so, you’ll need to wait a day or so for the name servers to update.

    Okay, I was told only a couple hours but I guess I’ll be more patient ??

    “a couple hours” is actually more like 2 to 48 hours. It depends on how quickly your ISP refreshes their DNS cache.

    Not to sounds like a commercial, but if you switch to OpenDNS, you’ll not only have access to fastest DNS servers on the planet, but you’ll also get a ton of features that your ISP doesn’t offer, including the ability to manually refresh their DNS cache.
