I have just been editing my site on WordPress and added some values in the theme functions part. I logged out and when I tried to login in again none of the login pages load up and I just get the error message…

Fatal error: Call to a member function remove_cap() on a non-object in /home/fhlinux008/c/carparkcricket.com/user/htdocs/wp-content/themes/elegant-grunge/functions.php on line 4

…which is what I added to try and add roles for certain users.

I’ve no idea what to do…I can only change the site through the WordPress site as I dont have any other editing programs.

Can anyone suggest anything I can do? I can’t login to remove the text I added.

    Many thanks in advance…

The website is also down so nothing is working at all…

Having only ever edited it through the wordpress site, is there a program i can get to manually edit it through that so i dont have to login through wordpress (which i obviously am unable to do right now)

If you can access thorugh FTP, download the functions.php file, edit it with Notepad or similar and upload it again.

If you can’t how have you installed the wordpress? You’ll have to “reinstall” all the wordpress again.

    That’s great, thanks

I don’t know how to set up an FTP account for my website though without logging in to my admin account. Is there another way to do it?

You need the FTP data to be able to access your FTP.

    The FTP data are:
    – The FTP adress (and port)
    – The FTP user
    – The FTP password

These data is provided by your host always (if you have FTP access)

E-mail your host and ask for this data, then follow this How-To:

    Issue resolved

The guy that originally set up the site had FTP details and sorted the issue for me.

    Many thanks for your help.
