I’m new to this Plugin. I have tried to add a modal button to some text in a Widget text window. In the WTW I’ve added the following:
    <button class=”eModal-1″>Open Modal</button>
The button appears but when I click it nothing happens? I have created a modal that has a short code for a form and a line of text.
    Can someone help please?
    Thanks
    Tony

  • Hey TonyWilliams,

Sorry for your troubles – have you read our Getting Started Guide yet?

Also, check out this post. It will help me do my job faster and better if you could provide information as directed in that guide.

    Thanks!

    Hi there.Here is my answer:
    1. I’ve read the Getting Started Guide and followed the instructions. (I’m using the free version so some of the screens don’t appear)
    2. I created a modal which includes short code to open a form. The content of the modal is this – Please fill in the form below and click the Submit button for further details on membership.
    [Form id=”10″]

    3. I have created a text widget on my sidebar and in the text widget I have out this – If you would like to join us click here
    <button class=”eModal-1″>Open Modal</button>

    4. When I click on the modal button in the sidebar widget it should open my form but nothing happens at all.
    5. Here is a link to the page where the modal button is included

I hope this is sufficient information for you.
    Many thanks

Thank you, very helpful. Looking into this now…

After checking the code on your page, you have the proper class setup for your button, but the modal is not loaded in the footer as it should be.

The odds are you simply haven’t loaded your modal – see Loading Your Popup.

You’ll have to choose between Per Page/Post or Site Wide, and since this is a signup or opt-in, I would suggest Site Wide:

In your WP Admin: Easy Modal -> Modals -> Your Sign Up Modal -> You’ll meet the General Settings Tab, look for LOAD TYPE

Select Site Wide. If it was set to Per Page/Post, that was your problem.

If you set the Load Type to Per Page/Post, you would have to go into that specific page in WP Editor and make sure your modal is enabled at the bottom of that Page/Post.

    Hope this helps!

Thank you for your response. I have now changed the Load Type to Site Wide and when I click on the button the modal opens in a new page. However it does not execute the short code for the FormMaker form to open which is [Form id=”10″] I know this form code is correct because the form opens in the yellow bar at the side of the Home page. I had the modal button in a text widget in the right hand side bar. Could that have been the problem? However I have tried to put the modal button directly onto the Home page content but it still doesn’t open the modal.
I understood from your site that I could include short codes in the modal?
    Many thanks
    Tony

Hey Tony, I’m looking into this now…

Also, the modal is not “opening in a new page” – you simply have your modal Overlay set to 100% opacity, which is the default modal theme setting.

You can edit your modal theme from the WP Admin: Easy Modal -> Themes -> Default

If you’re a free user, you can only edit the Default Theme. However, you can create unlimited themes with our Unlimited Themes Add On.

As far as your short code not working, I’m looking into this issue…

Edit: Also, having it in the side bar or not would not cause a problem, to clarify that.

Many thanks for your prompt response. I have adjusted the opacity so that the modal looks like it is sitting on top of my page. Thank you for that suggestion.

I await your suggestion on the short code.

    Again many thanks
    Tony

    Hey Tony,

Easy Modal is compatible with some form plug-ins for WordPress (Gravity Forms, Ninja Forms,) but alas, not all. Unfortunately, we suspect some simple conflicts with Form Maker.

In short, we have to patch Easy Modal, if, in fact, it is a problem Easy Modal. As of this second, there is nothing we can do.

We have a few compatibility issues we will be addressing soon, Form Maker included. Again, if, in fact, this is actually a Easy Modal issue.

We’ve been very busy with Easy Modal 3.0 development, so this fix isn’t coming exactly immediately. Sorry for the vagueness, 3.0 Beta should be out within a few days, and we’re looking to get these compatibility issues out of the way after that.

In the mean time, if feasible, you could consider switching to Gravity Forms or Ninja Forms.

If this fix is an emergency, we do offer Priority Support.

Thanks for that, I’ll try Ninja forms and report back in a couple of days.
    Thanks again
    Tony

    Good luck!

Used Ninja Forms as you suggested and it works FINE!
    Many,many thanks, great plugin
    Tony
