    Hi,

I’ve just followed the steps to set up a multisite network here as I would like to set up clones of my landing page to do A/B testing and page translations etc.

All seems to have set up as it should minus the fact that when I visit my new site (front end or WP admin) it gives me a DNS error message: https://es.iunderstandenglish.com/wp-admin/

If anyone could help me work out what I have done wrong, that would be much appreciated.

    Thanks!

  • This might be a DNS issue or a multisite issue, or possibly both.

When I look at your DNS records for iunderstandenglish.com, I’m not seeing any A records or CNAME records for the es.iunderstandenglish.com subdomain. So that’s where I’d start looking first. Your hosting company will most likely require you to “park” the subdomain in your webhosting account (this may vary with your hosting company though, so please verify).

In addition to that, you might need a domain mapping plugin for WordPress MultiSite to map a subdomain to a specific site within your WordPress. It’s been a while since I’ve had to wrestle with that, but you’ll need to get the DNS situation above squared away before that has a chance of working.

You don’t need to map subdomains in WP Multisite. Never have ??

Thank you both for your responses, I appreciate it.

Forgive my technical ignorance, but what would I need to do to fix this?

    Thanks

It looks like your website is hosted by GoDaddy. They have some support articles about subdomains in their help documentation.

Thanks for setting me right, Ipstenu. I’ll get the hang of this MultiSite thing one day! ??
