• I have your plugin on two sites and i can’t get the plugin to deactivate on either of them. When i deactivate the plugin the login still shows up on both sites. The sites are hosted on GoDaddy Managed WordPress. Can you please tell me how to get the plugin to deactivate and not make the site password protected any more? I’ve tried clearing the cache multiple times after deactivating the plugin and have even checked using chorme’s incognito browser window and the password is still required.

    Hi @kemmieg,

When Hide My Site is deactivated or deleted, it will no longer run on your site, effective immediately. However, some sites have a caching system whereby old versions of the site continue to be shown to site visitors. This means that even though you have deactivated/deleted a plugin from your site, the cached (older) version of your page might still be shown to your visitors – and that older version of the page can be from a time when you still had the plugin active on your site.

If you are using a caching plugin that you know of, try going to the caching plugin settings and clear the cache on your site.

Many times users think they have cleared all the cache, however in the end it turns out there is some cached version of their page that is still being served to site visitors. Oftentimes cached pages are served automatically via your web host, and many users are not aware of the fact that their web host does this. You mentioned your site is hosted on GoDaddy Managed WordPress – according to their documentation you should be able to clear your site cache by logging in to your WP admin, then at the top of the page, select Managed WordPress > Flush Cache

You also might try sending your web host (GoDaddy) a message and ask if they use an auto-caching feature on your site.

I hope that this will be able to help clear up the issue for you. Please let me know if you have any questions and feel free to reach out to me direct via my email info[at]clevelandwebdeveloper[dot]com.

    Best,

    Justin
