cant get posts integrated into an existing php site

I have wordpress installed in mydomain.com/blog. The rest of my site is php. I want to insert my blog posts into my php site (but not under index) and I followed these steps: https://moshublog.com/2005/07/05/integrate/2/

I can tell the code is working because there’s a new section where my posts should be but in their place I get “Sorry, no posts matched your criteria.”

What am I missing?
