• Thanks for this plugin.

The emails send fine as long as I use the(php) option, but that option doesn’t seem to hold up when a lot of traffic needs to go out from the site (I have forms on my site and users need to receive confirmation emails).

I would like to use the smtp but I cannot for the life of me get it to connect and send a successful test email. I’ve tried multiple gmail accounts, a hotmail account, and an outlook account. I have used every combination of smtp host & port for those respective mail servers/providers that I can find anywhere on the internet.

Any help would be appreciated, as it seems the smtp configuration would allow my forms to be more reliable for participants!

    Many thanks.

  • I was able to get it to work, using a Gmail account. Here are the relevant settings:

Mailer: Send all WordPress emails via SMTP.
    SMTP Host: smtp.gmail.com
    SMTP Port: 587
    Encryption: Use TLS encryption.
    Authentication: Yes: Use SMTP authentication.
Username: [your – entire – Gmail or Google Apps email address]
Password: [your password for your Gmail or Google Apps email account]
