Can't get to Dashboard to remove a plugin – getting a fatal error

    I am having an issue getting to the admin of the site to remove a plugin that seems to be giving me the problem. I have updated to WP 3.6 and NextGen 2.0, but trying to get into the admin of the site, I get this error:

    Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 41943040 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 56 bytes) in /data/15/1/90/36/1742688/user/1882581/htdocs/wp-content/plugins/nextgen-gallery/products/photocrati_nextgen/modules/nextgen_gallery_display/adapter.display_settings_controller.php on line 10

    Is there another way to disable the plugin so I can get back into the admin of the site?

  • Do you know how to use FTP? These instructions will help you if you aren’t familiar and want to use Filezilla.

    Open an FTP program such as Filezilla and connect to your host server. Browse on the hosting side (the right side is the host server the left side is your computer) to /wp-content/plugins. Delete or rename the plugin folder and the plugin will be disabled.

    I downloaded Filezilla, but it will still not let me connect to the site. Still getting an error through Filezilla. This may be something I need to get WordPress to resolve.

    That’s not a WordPress issue. Contact your hosts for assistance with setting up your FTP correctly.

    I was able to fix it. Got into the FTP of the site and deleted the problem plugin. Everything is back to normal now. Thanks for everyone’s help.
