• Hi,
I followed the exact instructions to use the wp audio player which I’ve copied in below:
Upload an mp3 file somewhere on the internet and link to it using our audio shortcode (if you have found a mp3 file elsewhere, simply grab its URL). To do this, switch to the HTML view when creating/editing a post or page. Next, enter the shortcode, which looks like this: , with the address inside. For example:
    [audio https://wpcom.files.wordpress.com/2007/01/mattmullenweg-interview.mp3%5D

I added this in the html area, not the visual editor, yetwhen it’s published it just shows the html coding line as I wrote it in.
How do get this to work please?

  • The code you posted is missing the closing bracket – should be

    [audio https://wpcom.files.wordpress.com/2007/01/mattmullenweg-interview.mp3]

    start there

Thank you. I do have the closing bracket in. This is my exact code:
    [audio https://www.frumpytofantastictelesummit.com/audio/sheridanhammondinterview.mp3%5D
    Any other suggestions?

When I go to that URL the server is timing out. I am not getting the MP3 file. Are you able to access the MP3 file at that URL?

    (@caseylorraine)

Yes it accesses the url fine for me and plays the mp3 no problems

What is the URL of the site page with the embedded MP3 player code that isn’t working?

(That direct MP3 URL finally worked and started playing in the player)

according to the instructions the syntax is

    [audio:https://www.yourdomain.com/path/to/your_mp3_file.mp3%5D

you have a space instead of a colon after the word audio – no space

Yay! That works thank you. I don’t wnat the download option to be there though. Is there anyway to just have the very clean looking speaker and play button without the download option or the name of the audio file next to it? If you take a look at https://www.frumpytofantastictelesummit.com/test/ again you’ll see what I mean. I would like it to look like the audio player under point 1 at this link: https://en.support.wordpress.com/audio/

What is displaying on your page is not the default format/styling.

Go to the plugin admin page in your site’s Dashboard area. There are many setting configuration options. See if you can figure out how to set it up as you want.

You can post questions back on anything you can’t resolve.

    Hi

It looks like you may have two audio players installed, that may be colliding with each other. The one you want is called Audio Player

you have some files loading called jw-player-plugin-for-wordpress

    try disabling that.

Thank you. I have deleted the other audio player and just have wpaudio now.
I went to the admin page for the plugin but can;t see or understand how to change the style/appearance of the player. This is the options (i’ve copied them in below)… Can you suggest what to do please? Thanks so much

    Hi

You still have the wrong audio player installed. That is why it looks different. The names are very similar.

The one you want is this one https://wpaudioplayer.com/

Deactivate the one you have now and install that one.

Brilliant, thank you so much! Got it working thanks to your support.

Hi. I’ve got trouble getting my mp3 file to play. I’ve read everything here and it didn’t answer my question, but I couldn’t find how to start a new discussion, so I’m tagging on to this one.

    I’m not a coder. Here’s what I’ve done:
    (1) I uploaded my mp3 file, (2) I have the MP3-jPlayer plug-in activated, (3) I’ve inserted a link to my copy to the mp3 file. When I preview and click on the inserted link, I get a black screen with an arrow in the middle…no sound, nothing.

When I click on the mp3 file itself, it plays just fine. How do I get it to work on my page?

I’m also curious how to post a question! Couldn’t find that answer any where…but the audio file is a priority.

    Thanks,
    Veronica

    Hi Veronica

I’m not familiar with the MP3-jPlayer plugin.

I found this one the other day.
    https://www.ads-software.com/extend/plugins/media-element-html5-video-and-audio-player/
Haven’t used it yet but it looked good. you might want to try disabling the jPlayer and activating this one and see if it helps. It looks like the instructions are more detailed.

To make a new post, go to the Forum homepage and click on the forum you want to post in. Next to its name on the post listing page is an “Add New” button
    https://www.ads-software.com/support/forum/how-to-and-troubleshooting

If the plugin I suggested doesn’t solve your problem you really are better off making a new post – more people will see it.
