can’t give new users a password

  • Got a new WordPress 5.3.2 installation and I tried to create a user. The Show Password button doesn’t do anything when clicked, just blinks and that’s it. If I try to proceed, it demands I give the user password. Behavior is the same across browsers.

    I had a user I imported and it has a generate password button. This button is also blocked.

    I noticed also that it was no longer possible to drag menu items around. Since it was a new install, I blew away all the plugins, themes and the whole database. Now it’s working fine. So there’s a bug in the code somewhere, but where it’s not clear.
