For the first time i can nor start/implement Site kit into backend of a wordpress website. (many other websites are easy to implement site kit for me).
    1. After clicking “MIt Google anmelden” i have to choose the google account > CHECK

    2. “Log into site kit” showed up > clicking on “next”
    3. “Site Kit wants additional access rights to your Google Account”
(“Site Kit already has some access rights, Site Kit has some access rights for these 7 access permissions.”
    >>> at this point, two time i delete those access rights and re-installed them)
    4. clicking on “next”
    5. then a landing page (with a long URL/row with (excerpt) “?action=googlesitekit_proxy_exchange_site_code&googlesitekit_code=sitekit-n” of the website pops up with “No Results Found
The requested page could not be found. Refine your search or use the navigation above to find the post.”

Nothing is installed, Site kit is not running.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

Thanks for getting in touch @urbandivision. Hopefully we can determine the cause and ensure you can get set up successfully.

In order to do so, please share the following:

    1. Your Site Health information. You can use this form to share privately if preferred.??
    2. A screen recording of your experience. You can use a service such as Loom or RecordIt to share a screen recording, while using the same form to share this privately if preferred. This will allow us to view the final URL you land back on, which may include an invalid callback URL based on a previous setup.
    3. Is this site which you’re setting up Site Kit on, migrated from a site that may have used Site Kit previously, or did you have Site Kit set up on this site previously before migrating? I’m aware you mentioned it’s a new site and the first time you were unable to set up the plugin. I ask as if there are traces of a previous set up, the plugin may be looking for records for a previous set up.

Let me know if you have any questions with the above. Thank you.

    1. send to you
      2. maybe my send infos will help without video
      3. no, the site runs on a test server before i′ve transferred it to the new hoster and no site kit was installed before in that site.

Appreciate the update @urbandivision. As nothing obvious stands out from reviewing your Site Health information, along with performing some checks on your site, please follow the steps below, which can help determine third party plugin, browser or extension related issues impacting Site Kit setup.

    1. Login to your live site from a Chrome browser incognito window.
    2. Install and activate the Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin.
    3. Navigate to “Plugins > Health Check & Troubleshooting > Troubleshoot”.
    4. From the same screen click on the “Available Plugins” tab at the top right and then click on the “Enable” option next to “Site Kit by Google“.
    5. Attempt to set up Site Kit once more.

Should the same occur, please confirm that you did grant Site Kit all permissions during setup, or share a recording of your experience as suggested above. We can then perform some additional checks.

Let me know if you have any questions with the above.

    Still the same James.
I′ve followed every single step from you guideline in incognito chrome but after trying to connect to google and to “verify” the site i came to the same 404 site on kattendorfer-hof.de

Thanks for the update. As I suspect we may need to clear your site records, I’ll send a request to check this first.

Before doing so, if you wish to perform the below changes, I suspect you may be able to proceed.

    1. Visit your site settings (Settings > General).
    2. Change your site address (URL) and WordPress address (URL) from https://kattendorfer-hof.de/ to https://www.kattendorfer-hof.de/ (adding a www prefix).
    3. Press the save button.
    4. Attempt Site Kit setup once more after logging back into your site.

Let me know how you get on after attempting the above. If you are able to proceed, you can perform the reverse of the above, to ensure your site is no longer using the www prefix. Site Kit will recognize this as a URL change, so you will need to set up the plugin once more.

Let me know how you get on with the above. If you run into any issues, I’ll go ahead and request a check of your site records.

Hu-Ha! Right now it works with change-ing the additional “www”. But why this additional context solved it? What was the problem?

Glad to hear it @urbandivision. Based on this working with the www prefix, what likely happened was Site Kit was set up on this domain successfully at some stage, although with differing records. This could be if your site was using a different wp-admin path, had the WordPress address including a directory (ie. Not set to root), or something else. The records that the Site Kit service collected previously didn’t fully match when last attempting to set up the plugin, leading to an invalid callback URL.

When you added a www path, Site Kit recognized this as a new site, therefore not trying to match the www site records with any previous records.

If you do wish to revert to your non www site, it’s still possible that you may encounter issues, although do let me know if you try and this does happen. I can then make a request to clear all previous site records for you.

Not a problem. Thank you for being a Site Kit user, across many sites by the sounds of it in your initial report. Best of luck!

Adding the www. in front of my URLs is the only thing that solved the site kit 404 error. It’s annoying that it’s not more obvious or mandatory.
    Thank you, James
