I exported the RSVP list, then I added new columns and imported the same file. But My additional questions don’t get added for the new guests.

For instance, I have a column called “Dealer Name” but when I import, that field gets saved to Custom Message. And then next column “Dealer Code” doesn’t get imported at all.

I started with an export, so the format of the file and the column headers should be correct.

    Any ideas?

  • Hi,

Can you send me the file you are trying to import? My email is [email protected].

If you are using the free version custom question values are not importable.

That would explain the trouble. I’m using the free version…

I don’t think you can export and then re-import that file with additional data. The import file needs to follow the specific format that’s listed on the import page, and it has fewer columns than the export file has. The import file needs to have the exact number of columns the program expects… for instance, even if you’re not using the Email column, you still need to have it there, or else it will mess all of the other data up. My assumption is that the plugin disregards the content in the header row (i.e. it doesn’t check to make sure that the third column is actually “Email”).

Fortunately, I think the free plugin can do what you want it to do. But you first need to add all custom questions (e.g. Dealer Name) from the plugin itself. Although you cannot import custom questions, you can assign attendees to those questions during the import. As the import page describes, you just have columns for your custom questions, like pq_1, pq_2, etc., and then attendees will be assigned those questions if “Y” is in the cell for those columns.
