• I initially imported everything from my blogger account to my wordpress account a few times without a hitch. This was about a week ago. Today I cleared all my my posts on wordpress in order to re-import from blogger again. But this time I’m getting an error message. I authorize the import, grant access to my blogger account through Google but then get this message:

    Trouble signing in
We were not able to gain access to your account. Try starting over.

It asks me to clear my account information and try again. But I still get the same message. I’ve located a similar problem on an older post here but no real solution was forthcoming from the answers. Can anyone help or give an indication of what’s changed since my last import and how I can fix it?
    Thanks in advance.

  • Thank you so much!

This is now working, but only if you import to a wordpress.com blog. To get your posts & comments to a self-hosted blog, you need to then export to an XML file, then re-import from your self-hosted blog. A bit of a kludgy workaround, but it worked great for me.

thank you very much andy. you are the saviour ??

ucla74 – no, i could import it to my self-hosted blog direcly now.

I’ve just applied the blogger.php code change but I’m still not being granted access to the account from WordPress.

The blog is currently hosted via FTP, do I need to move this over to blogspot first?

I had the same problem everyone else reported until I changed the blogger.php line, as directed by Andy.

I get further along – into the WordPress Blogger Blog Import screen….but there I have problems. All 3 of my Blogger Blogs appear there in the list with the “magic button” to import….but they all have 0 posts listed and when I run the import, nothing is imported.

WordPress lists each Blog at my site root, when they are actually in their own subdirectories. My guess is that WordPress is having problems “finding” the posts.

Is there any way to edit a file to direct the importer to the appropriate server folder that holds the posts?

Changing “www2” to “www” fixed the problem for me. Thanks!

And I still don’t know the answer for getting your Blogspot posts into my WordPress HOST

Yesterday I was able to transfer from blogger by going from own-hosted blogger, to blogspot, to wp-hosted wp, to own-hosted wp. Unfortunately, nearly all of my unique post pages have not converted over to the new template … that is to say, most of the archive shows the old blogger format right down to the blogger frame. Anyone having this problem?

Thank you so much, shadow, it worked!

I think problem goes on with WP 2.5. I have tried with 2.5.1 also same problem. These two trials have ended with no error messages, I just click on the “Import” button, it says “importing…” then changes suddenly into “Continue…” but nothing imported yet…

I checked, api seems to asking for https://www.blogger.com (not www2).

Google goes to a new change or what? Anybody having same situation?

P.S: I am not sure if this is a new topic…
