I have the free version of Events Calendar as i am just testing the Events Calendar waters… To get started, I need to import where I have been keeping all my events for years — Google Calendar.

I downloaded the .ics file from GC, which I then opened in Excel and saved as a .csv file. But when I import this file into Events Calendar, I get a single column containing what appear to be under-the-hood labels for the various calendar fields.

I read on one of your help pages https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/k/importing-data-from-a-csv-file/ that “The CSV import tool is free … and included when you install The Events Calendar.” And I checked and indeed my Events Aggregator tool is NOT disabled.

So what on earth can I be doing wrong in trying to import my Google Calendar to Events Calendar?

Any ideas will be immensely appreciated — thanks!

    Hey @susantau

    Thank you for reaching out.

You are right. Opening a .ics file in Excel does not work. At least not without some conversion (there are tools for that).

The best way to import from Google Calendar is by using our Event Aggregator premium add-on. Here’s how that works.

You can test it out for free here.

Basically, you find your Google public or private URL, and you import away.

Let us know how that goes,

OK, so it sounds like what you are basically saying is that it is not possible to import Google Calendar into The Events Calendar without purchasing the premium add on Events Aggregator. The partial version of Events Aggregator that comes with the free version of The Events Calendar is not able to import a Google Calendar.

Do I have this correct now?

    Hi @susantau,

The partial version of Events Aggregator that comes with the free version of The Events Calendar is not able to import a Google Calendar.

Yes, that’s correct. It is not built-in on the default version.

Please if you have more questions in regard to this premium add-on, please open a Support Ticket on our Help Desk. Also, for us to follow WordPress Forum Guidelines in regard to this kind of query.

    Thank you,

So I am using the Events Calendar sandbox to try out Events Calendar Pro and the Aggregator functionality. I’m still running into a problem. I follow the instructions given on this page: https://theeventscalendar.com/blog/learning/adding-a-google-calendar-to-wordpress/#:~:text=To%20begin%20importing%20your%20Google,ll%20see%20several%20options%20appear to provide the Events Import my Google Calendar Public address in iCal format?and then I click to Preview. The events look correct, so then I click Import. After about 10 minutes, I get this message:

Unable to process this import – a breakage or conflict may have resulted in the import halting.

Can you please advise? I have I think until Monday to use the sandbox site.

    Thanks!
