Can't insert images or set featured image

    This is a brand new install and I have no plugins activated and using twenty12 theme. When I try to insert an image or featured image, I go through the process as normal but after hitting ‘insert into post’ I am back at the editor but nothing has been inserted.

    Did the same thing on another (outdated) site and it works fine. Is this a 3.6.1 bug?

    – Check that anti-hotlinking of images isn’t enabled in your hosting account. If it is, try disabling it.
    – Check your uploads path in Dashboard, Settings, Media, Store uploads in this folder . . . normally this would be blank.
    – Try changing the permissions on the wp-content directory to 766. If you still have problems, try 767, 775 or 777.
    Once your uploads are working, change the permissions on wp-content back to 755 again and check that everything still works OK

    Thanks Tara,
    -anti-hotlinking was definitely off;
    -3.6.1 doesn’t have that option but I know that images are definitely being uploaded normally (also, can’t insert from URL). The media uploader works just fine until I hit ‘insert’;
    even 777 didn’t work.

    Time to re-install?

    Just deleted everything including database and clean reinstalled through Softaculous. First post was unable to insert an image from my media library.

    Hello,

    Can you disable all plugins, flush any cache you have and then test to upload any image? Tired to see (bad) plugins and themes that use functions to handle uploads.

    Hi Tiago,
    Yes tried all that… even deactivated plugins via FTP as per another thread. There are no plugins even installed other than the 2 default ones right now.

    Are you using Apache or NGINX? You can see some error being displayed in php logs?

    Your link suggested having only one tab open and that’s exactly what the problem seems to be. Incidentally Chrome does not work AT ALL, regardless of the number of tabs open.
