Can't install Plugins

Are you using a fresh install of WordPress? What plugins are you trying to install?

I just updated the WordPress to WordPress 3.4.1., but it’s not a fresh install.

I’ve tried to add add-to-any, collapsing-archives, and kb-easy-picasaweb.

Were you able to install plugins prior to your update?

And this is a self hosted site right? You’re not yoursite.wordpress.com correct?

I was unable to install plugins prior to the update, I was hoping the update would fix that.
This is a self-hosted site, https://riversanctuary.net/, hosted by a local company called Cruzio. (www.cruzio.com)

It is because of a 4-year-old version of Plesk (version 9), it seems.

Tried FTP remotely & from my hosting side (GoDaddy) to try and resolve
the supposed plugin problem of duplicated folder names in the ZIP files, still no change.

The Plugins keep deactivating. Just 2 days ago I got the “white screen of death” as well on my site.

I hope someone has a solution for this soon

I have the same problem. This is with common plugins like Akismet or JetPack.

Installing the plugins works fine. But when I want to active the plugin, I get the message “The plugin does not have a valid header”. When I go to the Plugins tab, it does not list any of the installed plugins. When I look into the “wp-contents/plugins” directory with a FTP client, I can see the plugins are installed and have the correct privileges (755).

I have tried re-installing WordPress 3.4.1 manually. But this did not help.

If anyone knows a solution, I would be happy to hear it?

I am experiencing the exact same problem on the latest Version of WordPress (Version 3.4.2) with a relatively fresh install of about one month, still on the latest version, with plugins like Akismet and Jetpak.

What is the point of creating another post/thread when this one remains unsolved?

Can’t install plugins
It would be nice to know for sure, so we can throw pertinent errors to the user.
Maybe manually check the data/other/plugins.xml and see whats in it. Maybe rename it and try again

Are you having issue saving pages ?
Does the other folder have an htaccess file if apache ?

My host was once in read only filesystem mode, but permissions said everything was fine. But writes actually failed.

My goal is to make health check as robust as possible to catch all these issues.

Are you using the same version of WordPress on the same physical server hosted by the same hosts with the same plugins, theme & configurations as the original poster?
