  • Hi @webmaestro66,

By default most web servers use the 80 port to serve the content. If you have installed IIS and XAMPP in the same computer, make sure they are not configured to use the same port.

Once you checked that, try to type localhost:80(80 being the port configured for XAMPP), instead of just localhost and see if that works.

Hi, I do not have IIS installed!, I changed the port number to 12 instead of 80 as I found a youtube tutorial that told me to do so!, when I type in localhost:12 I get this message come up

Welcome to XAMPP for Windows 5.6.28

You have successfully installed XAMPP on this system! Now you can start using Apache, MariaDB, PHP and other components. You can find more info in the FAQs section or check the HOW-TO Guides for getting started with PHP applications.

Start the XAMPP Control Panel to check the server status.

Does this mean that it has installed?, also, after this I cant download wordpress correctly!, I am in a muddle!!, any help would be much appreciated!

    Hi,
Yes, that means you have installed xampp successfully. Make sure the Apache and MySQL are running.
You XAMPP Control panel should look something like this:

To install WordPress here is the guide for the Easy 5 Minute WordPress Installation on Windows. Scroll down a little and find the section WAMP and you will find the instructions.
