First of all, thank you for this elegantly simple plugin. That said, I have run into a problem.
My purpose for using this plugin was to make a static, archived version of a wp site that I am retiring from the live Web, but wish to keep in my portfolio (through a link to the static site). I have created a sub-directory on my portfolio site (goodworx.com) called “archived-sites” and in that folder I have made a subfolder for the static site files (Housepetality). Both are on the same server. So the path to the static site is goodworx.com/archived-sites/Housepetality.

When I navigate directly to that URL in a browser I land on the home page for static site and in the address line it says “goodworx.com”. So all is well thus far. But when I try to go to any of the links on that page it sends me back to the original wp site. And in the address bar it now says https://housepetality-petsitting.com instead of goodworx.com. If I type in goodworx.com/archived-sites/Housepetality/index.html I arrive at a 404 page in goodworx.com

I hope I’m making sense. So either I am misreading what is happening, or there is some redirect going on or the urls aren’t properly going where they should.

I can successfully navigate using direct links, but not from clicking the links on the static pages. For example, if type https://goodworx.com/archived-sites/Housepetality/doggie-day-care/ into the address bar, I arrive at the static page. If I click on the navbar link to Services>Doggie Day Care (on that same page) I am taken to the corresponding page on the live site and not to the static version as it should be. I made a small change in text to the live page so I could tell which page I was landing on.

So it appears that there is a structural glitch going on.

Sorry it has taken me so long to get back to you. And thanks for the explanation of what’s going on! That’s super helpful.

So you’ve got a WordPress site at https://housepetality-petsitting.com/ and you want to move it to https://goodworx.com/archived-sites/Housepetality. Simply Static successfully generated the pages, but it didn’t get any of the URLs adjusted.

In Simply Static, are these the values you have set for Origin and Destination URLs?

Origin URL: https://housepetality-petsitting.com
Destination URL: https://goodworx.com/archived-sites/Housepetality

Thank you for your response, Scott. Although it has been so long that I forget what I did. So I repeated the whole process using the origin and destination urls that you note. After the process completed, I downloaded the zip file and uploaded it to the proper directory. When I navigated to the url https://goodworx.com/archived-sites/Housepetality the entire format and CSS is missing. If I click any link, it says “Server not Found”.

Hi myroxie,

No worries! Looking at the page, it looks like you might need to slightly adjust the Destination URL.

It looks like the Destination URL is presently set to this:
http//goodworx.com/archived-sites/Housepetality

Can you change it to this:
goodworx.com/archived-sites/Housepetality

I think that should help a bit.
