    Hi All,
I cant get my featured images on my home page to link to my posts. I have added the post URL to the image before uploading it as a featured image but no luck.

Do I have to put additional code in for this to work or am I missing something obvious. It seems strange that you cant do it through the image at the upload stage.

    Any suggestions would be welcome

    Cheers

  • I guess you are “missing something obvious”.
But without link to your website, your question is too abstract.
So, please post a link, I you need further help.

    PS – don’t get “Frustrated” please ??

    Hi Mike

    https://www.vagrantsoftheworld.com

on the home page there are the featured pic for each post. I am trying to get the images to link back to the posts. Same with related articles at the bottom of the posts.

Cheers for your help. I am sure its not a big deal thats why I am frustrated with myself!

P.S. Obviously the post title links but not the pic

    Hi Kate,
I wouldn’t be frustrated at all being on Carribean fiestas ??
Just a joke – very nice & interesting blog (maybe consider some more colorful background, logo etc – too official for such vivid content).
    OK – seriously:
    – featured gallery in Hueman theme (like on https://demo.alxmedia.se/hueman/ ) is separate thing from post’s “featured image” in WP
    – featured image slider (if you want one) must belong to separate category – you can name it whatever you like, but slug must be “featured”, and they will appear in slideshow like on ALX demo site

But – you obviously have another issue:
-none of your post thumbnail images (not only featured category) loads properly – clicking to image goes to…<iframe>…who knows where (hell)
-if you click on excerpt of the post (anything except image) – all OK

    My guess
    – you are using tons of plugins
-for pure Hueman you don’t need it, just make a post + place “featured image” (if you don’t, you’ll get gray box with “camera” by default)

Some of these plugins you used makes this mess – so you can solve problem easy, just deactivate (no need to delete, you can do it after) 1 by 1
-first those connected with images, galleries etc) – and it should work at some point, if you made normal posts with “featured image” set.
-U used some plugin for images (spare some of my time, find it yourself) and that one is first suspect
If this doesn’t solve the issue – inform.
If yes, mark [resolved] and happy blogging & traveling.
    Mike
PS -you wrote “Obviously the post title links but not the pic ” – no, I think it’s quite opposite – links are working, images makes trouble ??

    Hi Mike

    Greetings again from the Caribbean!
Thanks for your response. Agreed re header, still searching for inspiration on this one!
I believe I have found the problem, It appears to be the Next Gen pro gallery I am running. I have had numerous issues with it since I bought it. I will have to contact them now to see what the problem might be.

Thanks again for your help and if you have any suggestions for some great gallery I would love to know.

    Cheers again

One more thing Mike if you don’t mind,

With regard to your comments about my header section-
How can I add a logo to the right of the header section and still keep title and description areas as text? If I use the logo insert in theme options it replaces the title and stays left of screen. I would like to add logo to right of screen if possible.

Would love your advice on this if you are able.

Cheers again for all your help

    Kate
P.S waiting to hear from the folks at Next GEN

    Hi Kate,
    greetings from cyberspace (:
Envy, grrr… – Caribbean is place were I’d like to retire (not “10 days tourist tour”) -from Cuba (Hemingway knew where to fish and drink Daiquiri), Jamaica (some reggae & etc ;), why not some Haiti voodoo…etc
    OK -serious, again:
    – you solved your basic problem -Next GEN is guilty one -so your website at least works as it should
It was great plugin (absolutely best free gallery plugin ever made, easy to use, no conflicts with WP themes) when it was REALLY free, I used it a couple of years ago on https://soulfire.org.uk/ – photo blog for a friend of mine (hope mods. don’t mind for link , no propaganda, I made it and forgot it).
Since it was purchased by “you know which company” – free version became complete disaster – so I didn’t updated to new version and as you see, the blog (nothing special about it) still works with last good free version (it was whole affair in “WP world” – lets make it short – “how to purchase great plugin and make it a ….” )
-Why I stopped updating – it was completely re-written (in very bad manner), even folks who bought Pro (like you) had tons of complaints
So, if you asked me few years ago, I’ll reply without hesitate: Next GEN – but now…
    – you have a problem, you paid for it and you should force them either to solve you problem, or to refund your money
As mentioned, Hueman is very well & clean written responsive theme, it has no conflicts, except with poor written plugins (and you are “lucky winner”)
On the other hand, you need for sure good gallery plugin (Hueman featured gallery is just basic, for me adequate – you can find link to my last Hueman website, just go to my profile, and couple of threads I’ve opened on the right).
You need something “more vivid” – unfortunately I cannot recommend any, since I’m not in photo/gallery for long time.
In short again – I don’t have “suggestions for some great gallery” – but stated suggestion to avoid some bad ones (suppose bad “karma” – you’re already in it, just read their support forums and complaints).

Header – technically, you can do whatever you like in Hueman, with some CSS and PHP modifications (you’re right about replacing title & logo etc).
But – for your website – try to look it from other point.
Why not making some good full width image (.jpg, .png) that will include your existing .site-tile and .site-description in image?
Look at my mentioned website – I did similar (OK, designer helped) – included title + description (slogan) in 1 jpg.
Suppose this helps a bit (at least, what plugins NOT to use ?? if you stick to Hueman – please feel free to post further questions.
    Mike
