• I just moved my site to the main domain this morning using the help here: https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Giving_WordPress_Its_Own_Directory

Everything seemed to be fine, but I was just looking at it on my iPad and apart from the front page, everything was returning a 404 error. I then did what is probably a stupid thing and changed the wordpress url to the main URL (without the /wp). Now I can’t log-in to my dashboard to change things back. I can get to the log in page, but when I do, that returns a 404 error as well. Anyone any idea what I can do? and any idea why only the front page was showing when the site went live? I am using the PageLines theme.

  • Change the urls back. See Changing_The_Site_URL.

Thanks, I’ve sorted that problem, and managed to get back in to change the urls, but I still have the problem that the other pages don’t show up. All the pages are there in the dashboard, but they return a 404 error when I look at them online. The site is https://alexandraplayers.org.uk. Any ideas why this is?

OK great, I’ve sorted that one too, it’s the permalinks. I need to work out how to do those. In the meantime I’ve reverted to the default so the site is on line. Thanks for your help.

All the links to pages in the top menu work for me. Remember to press CTRL and F5 simultaneously when viewing an updated page/site. Or try emptying your browser cache. This should ensure that your web browser fetches a fresh copy of the page rather than serving up an out-dated copy from your own cache.

    Also disable/deactivate any caching plugin(s).
